Born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter and musician best known and acclaimed for his poetic lyrics and unique compositions. Perhaps the most admired and influential songwriter of his time, he led the urban folk-music revival of the 1960s and 1970s. The music Dylan made revolutionized rock. He had amplified and personalized musical genres by mixing folk, country, blues and rock.
Dylan performs with the guitar, piano and harmonica, backed by a changing line-up of bands. Some of his best known songs include Blowin' in the Wind, Like a Rolling Stone, The Times They Are A-Changin', Knockin' on Heaven's Door and Lay Lady Lay. He has received numerous awards over the years including Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy Awards. He has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame.
With a career spanning almost 5 decades, Bob Dylan has repeatedly impressed both fans and critics alike with his powerful music. With 34 studio albums, excluding live performances and compilations, he has firmly established himself as one of the greatest musical icons of all time.
